nutrition

Diet and nutrition play a major role in the development of most chronic diseases. Making positive changes to your diet and lifestyle can help prevent and treat many ailments including stubborn skin conditions like acne, psoriasis, eczema, sensitivities, dehydration, dryness & premature ageing.

Nutrition Therapy uses food and nutritional supplements (vitamins & minerals) to address and correct nutrient imbalances in the body.

As a Nutritionist, I treat the body as a whole, not just the symptoms, to ensure it is functioning in harmony.

Nutrition therapy can be effective in managing many health complaints including:

  • Skin conditions including acne, eczema, psoriasis, dry & sensitive skin and sun damaged skin

  • Bloating, constipation, diarrhea and indigestion

  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

  • Hormonal imbalance (menopause, PMS, PCOS)

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Food intolerances or sensitivities

  • Fatigue, inflammation & poor immunity

  • Vitamin and mineral deficiencies

THE SKIN + BRAIN + GUT CONNECTION

The 3 directional link between the skin, brain and gut has been recognised for decades and is controlled by our immune system and our hormones.

The term 'leaky gut' refers to a condition of the digestive system where the intestinal lining becomes damaged & permeable due to inflammation, infection, food additives or chronic stress. This allows undigested food, toxins and bacteria to pass through and enter the bloodstream causing inflammation which stimulates excess oil in the skin and growth of acne bacteria. It also causes many unwanted internal symptoms like fatigue, headaches, immune & skin reactions, digestive disturbances, hormone imbalance, weight gain or loss and mood disorders like anxiety and depression.

Stress also highly affects the digestive system and the skin by promoting inflammation which aggravates acne, interferes with gut bacteria, causes unwanted digestive symptoms and interrupted sleep, and promotes hormonal imbalance.

My aim as a Nutritionist is to look a little deeper to find the cause of your skin imbalance, restore and repair your digestive health, balance your nutrient status and prescribe essential topical nutrients for your skin. I will provide you with successful and sustainable dietary, lifestyle and skin solutions going forward.
